Slovenian Film Centre

Slovenian Film Centre, a public agency of the Republic of Slovenia, became operational on 19 January 2011 as a successor of the Slovenian Film Fund – a public fund.

This Agency was established by the Republic of Slovenia.

Agency tasks

1. implementing the national programme in the field of culture in the area of film and audiovisual activities as well as monitoring and analysing the state of its field of work;
2. taking care of high‑quality growth of film and audiovisual activities, encouraging creativity and production in the film and audiovisual field, and ensuring the suitable presentation of the achievements in its field of work;
3. deciding about the selection of projects in the field of film and audiovisual activities, financed by the Agency's funds, and concluding financing contracts with the selected applicants of these projects;
4. cooperating with the Slovenian National Radio and Television in the planning and development of the Slovenian film production;
5. monitoring and supervising the work and use of public resources by the providers of cultural projects in the field of film and audiovisual activities in the Republic of Slovenia;
6. ensuring the realisation of the festival presenting the recent Slovenian film production;
7. supporting the operations of organisations interested in the field of film and audiovisual activities and other similar organisations and cooperating with them;
8. encouraging the development of film and audiovisual culture, development of high‑school training in artistic professions in the field of audiovisual activities and development of film education;
9. encouraging the development of technology and infrastructure in the film and audiovisual field, especially the digitisation of the whole cinematographic chain from production to screening;
10. overseeing, in cooperation with professional associations of authors and independent producers, the implementation and granting of acknowledgements and monetary prizes in the field of film and audiovisual activities in the Republic of Slovenia;
11. cooperating with the state bodies and civil society in the planning of strategic guidelines in the field of film and audiovisual activities;
12. ensuring the promotion and exploitation of film and audiovisual activities in the Republic of Slovenia and abroad;
13. carrying out the tasks with regard to film location marketing in the territory of the Republic of Slovenia with the aim of encouraging the economic development, set out in the annual work programme and financial plan;
14. cooperating with other European and international institutions in the field of film and audiovisual activities, especially with regard to supports and the granting of parity resources in the field of film and audiovisual activities;
15. taking care of the operations and integration of public institutions and private initiatives in the field of film and audiovisual activities in the form of promoting the Republic of Slovenia in the context of film production;
16. carrying out other professional tasks in the field of film and audiovisual activities with the purpose for which it was established.
