Slovenian Film Fund, which was transformed into Slovenian Film Centre, a public agency, on 19th of January 2011, was a public fund whose primary task was to support the development and production of Slovenian film. The Fund supported the development and production of live‑action, documentary and animated features as well as the production of short films.
Besides supporting the development and production, the Fund's activities also included supporting the promotion of Slovenian film at home and abroad, supporting the development of cinema screening, organising the Festival of Slovenian Film each year, and giving expert awards for the field of cinematography.
The Fund collected suggestions for the co-financing of programmes and projects from the field of cinematography with public competitions. In this way it ensured continuous film production, co‑financed from the national budget.
The Fund also ensured the promotion and market exploitation of Slovenian film at home and abroad as well as the development of screenwriting, and it also planned and implemented the co‑operation with foreign non‑governmental organisations working in the field of film.
The Fund ensured the development of cinema screening as a cultural activity by monitoring the state of the cinematographic network, implementing measures for its harmonised development, and promoting the selection and distribution of art films in the Republic of Slovenia.
Additional vital tasks of the Fund also included organising the Festival of Slovenian Film, giving expert awards for the field of cinematography, and giving the Metod Badjura Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Bodies of the Fund
The Supervisory Board consists of a Chair and no more than six members. Its members are appointed and dismissed by the founder, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, for a term of no more than five years. Three members are appointed on the proposal of the ministry responsible for culture, one on the proposal of the ministry responsible for finance, and one member each on the proposal of professional or industry associations in the field of cinematography, Viba Film Studio and RTV Slovenia.
The Management Board of the Fund is represented by the Director, who is appointed and dismissed by the founder, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, on the proposal of the Fund’s Supervisory Board. The Director is selected by the Supervisory Board through a public competition.
The Director’s advisory bodies are the expert programme commissions. They prepare professional background materials for the Fund’s activities, formulate expert opinions on matters within the Fund’s remit and provide expert assessments of all applications submitted for the co-financing of programmes and projects.
Management
The Management Board of the Fund is represented by the Director, who is appointed and dismissed by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on the proposal of the Fund’s Supervisory Board. The Director is selected by the Supervisory Board through a public competition.
On 30 December 2010, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia appointed Dr Samo Rugelj Acting Director of the Slovenian Film Centre, a public agency of the Republic of Slovenia.

In 2010, the Film Fund appointed members of the expert programme commissions for the following programmes:
- screenplay development and film project development: Jože Dolmark, Jaroslav Skrušny and Hanka Kastelicova;
- production of feature films and minority co-productions: Mitja Čander, Jože Dolmark and Igor Šmid;
- production of documentary films: Vasja Bibič, Hanka Kastelicova and Drago Pečko;
- production of animated films: Zdravko Barišič, Igor Prassel and Špela Štandeker;
- blow-ups and transfers, and digital cinema: Aleš Blatnik, Cvetka Flakus and Miha Hočevar.
In addition to the expert programme commissions for the Fund’s five regular programmes, the Fund also appointed the following commissions:
- for the Festival of Slovenian Film: Filip Robar Dorin, Martin Srebotnjak and Petra Seliškar;
- for the programme supporting other festivals and the production of student films and student television works: Tibor Syed Mihelič, Mateja Valentinčič and Neli Vozelj.
